The Trial

On Thursday, October 6, 2005, AFF Underground took a trip to see The Trial, a play adapted from Franz Kafkas novel by the same name, at the Warehouse Theater at Mount Vernon Square (7th and L St NW) . An absurdist masterpiece that is widely regarded as one of the world's great novels, The Trial tells the terrifying tale of one Joseph K., a respectable functionary in a bank who is suddenly arrested and must defend his innocence against a charge about which he can get no information. Kafka's unsurpassed nightmare vision foreshadows the excesses of modern bureaucracy wedded to the mad agendas of twentieth-century totalitarian regimes. The cast is led by two-times Helen Hayes Award nominee Christopher Henley as Joseph K.
