Interns

Moving Picture Institute (MPI) | Posted on November 27, 2006

The Moving Picture Institute (MPI) identifies and nurtures promising filmmakers who are committed to protecting and sustaining a free society, and supports their work through grants, travel scholarships, awards, internships, training workshops, and networking opportunities.

Through its internship program, MPI cultivates talented young filmmakers, screenwriters, producers, directors, and others who demonstrate a commitment to using the aesthetic power of film to promote the core American values of freedom. MPI accepts applications year-round and places interns in both summer and academic-year internships.

Ultimately, MPI seeks to launch the careers of future directors, producers, studio executives, distributors, post-production companies, and directors of film festivals who will bring the ideas of freedom to life through film.

Intern Qualifications
MPI is looking for independent, dynamic, creative, energetic, and self-motivated students or recent graduates who possess excellent research and communication abilities and who have a demonstrable interest in film production. The ideal candidate is committed to individual rights and has an informed appreciation for American liberty. Judgment, focus, organization, empathy, an ability to work under pressure, and a sense of humor are also important.

Intern Responsibilities
MPI will place students in internships by pairing them with MPI's production partners and grant recipient filmmakers. Responsibilities and tasks include web research, writing, film festival placement, clerical and administrative tasks. Interns will work on films in production, on MPI projects directly, or with film production companies in New York and California. Los Angeles interns will participate in weekly discussion sessions with MPI advisors and staff who will assign readings and host panel discussions about various aspects pertaining to the industry.

Application Procedures
MPI reviews applications for summer and academic year internships on a rolling basis and will work with production partners and interns to set a mutually convenient schedule. Interested candidates should fax, mail, or e-mail a cover letter (explaining your interest in and commitment to MPI's mission), r©sum©, and two written recommendations to:
