The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is seeking applications for the position of Executive Assistant to work directly with the Mercatus Center’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) and other organizational leadership. The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing professional administrative assistance to the COO and other organizational leadership, with a particular focus on hiring and new employee orientation.

The Executive Assistant will be responsible for:

* Assisting the COO and other organizational leadership with administrative duties, including expense reports, meeting preparation, correspondence, contact management, and other clerical duties;
Short term strategic research/fact finding projects;
* Administering the Mercatus Center’s hiring process, including maintaining hiring web pages, and assisting with the development of tracking and reporting systems, scheduling interviews, and ultimately screening candidates;
* Assisting with the administration of Mercatus Center research and outreach programs, especially newly developed programs, as well as operations reports as time permits.

The Executive Assistant will report to the COO and contribute on multiple fronts to a fast paced, growing organization. Day-to-day responsibilities will be driven largely by new business opportunities and will cover a wide range of topics and functions, consistent with the overall programmatic portfolio of the Mercatus Center. Candidates will work with organizational leadership on tasks related to developing and administering research, educational, and outreach programs as well as fund raising and administration of overall operations.

Qualified candidates will have an excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at one time. Successful candidates will also possess a strong commitment to individual freedom, and some interest in economics and public policy. Past professional experience is required.
