Summary of Position
The Fund for American Studies is seeking to fill a Program Director position responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of the new Legal Studies program, including a summer institute designed for first year law students and law school prep programs for undergraduates. The Institute combines academic seminars, a legal internship placement, and opportunities for participants to network with professionals in the legal field.
Job Objectives
- Operate a high quality Institute that meets class size, budgetary, and educational goals of the Fund
- Ensure a high-level of student satisfaction with the Institute
Principal Responsibilities
- Marketing & Recruitment
- Help to identify and pursue recruitment partnerships with law schools as well as student and faculty organizations
- Work with Recruitment Manager to develop and implement annual marketing plan
- Admissions
- Serve as chief liaison with Institute applicants, students, and faculty
- Review applications for admissions and scholarship awards
- Program Management
- Work with faculty and staff to plan the Institute schedule, academic seminars and special events
- Plan guest lectures and selected site briefings at government institutions
- Establish a professional mentoring program where students are matched with experienced attorneys
- Evaluate student feedback and make recommendations for program improvements
- Internship Placements
- Identify and secure partnerships with legal internship sites, including law firms, general counsel offices in government agencies and corporations, and public interest legal groups
- Match and place Institute students with internship sites
Qualifications
A Bachelors degree is required and a law degree is preferred with four or more years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will also have project-management experience, strong communications skills, knowledge of the legal field and a commitment to ideas of limited government/free-market economy. Salary based on qualifications.
