Web Coordinator

The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is seeking a Web Coordinator to drive the organization’s internet activities. The Web Coordinator will work in a fast paced environment to develop and implement acquisition and retention marketing efforts designed to drive web site traffic, research downloads, and event sign-ups.

Responsibilities include:
1. Managing the Mercatus Center web site and ensuring effective creative and content development and execution to support program and media efforts. Including:
a. Developing and implementing short and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Mercatus Center web site that support the mission, goals, and strategies of the Mercatus Center.
b. Coordinating the work of the web team comprised of staff from each program, technical support, and vendors for visual design, content, and technical maintenance.
c. Managing the top level of the Mercatus Center web sites (Home, About, People, Media, Development) and ensures that Home page content is “fresh” on a daily (work week) basis.
d. Identifying, managing, and/or implementing training and support needs for the Web site.
e. Assisting programs and scholars to develop Web strategies and products that fit within the strategic goals of the overall site. This includes and is not limited to sites-on-the-fly, e-newsletters, podcasting, and blogs.
f. Enhancing professional growth and development through participation in continuing education courses, professional organizations, seminars and workshops, reading current literature and maintaining professional contacts in the community.
2. Developing and executing an online visitor acquisition strategy designed to maximize site traffic and promote research.
a. Maximizing paid/natural search traffic and downloads
b. Executing effective affiliate programs/publisher management activities to programmatic goals
c. Tracking and measure online outreach programs; designing test strategies and creative to optimize results.
3. Oversee the production of program related e-newsletters.
a. Working with program managers to develop editorial budgets and calendars for e-newsletters.
b. Overseeing production and distribution for e-newsletters and making sure that program managers are using the e-newsletters with a strategy for driving web site traffic and building the Mercatus brand.

Requirements:
• 1-3 years relevant experience or education in new media
• Experience working with content management systems
• Microsoft Office
• Google Analytics

Candidate must be outgoing, results-oriented, creative, self-motivated, and intrigued by market-oriented ideas.
