Analyst, Energy Policy and Climate Change

Cascade Policy Institute seeks qualified applicants for a full-time position as policy analyst, specializing in energy policy and climate change.

Cascade Policy Institute is Oregon’s free-market think tank. Cascade’s mission is to promote individual liberty, economic opportunity, and personal responsibility.

The energy policy analyst will be one of five analysts working in such areas as fiscal policy, asset-building, school choice, property rights, transportation, health care and land-use planning.
Responsibilities for this position include research, analysis, public speaking and writing to promote a free-market approach to energy policy and climate change. The analyst will be a project director and as such will be responsible for meeting deliverables in foundation grant contracts, supervising a summer research intern, working cooperatively with other project directors, and managing occasional contracts with outside consultants. The analyst will work regularly with government agencies, other non-profits, elected officials and the Cascade management team.

Qualifications required: Interested applicants should have at least a Bachelor’s degree with multi-disciplinary training in economics, mathematics, natural sciences and policy analysis. Preference will be given to applicants with graduate degrees in relevant fields. Professional experience working in the public policy arena will be favorably considered. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential.
