Freedom's Campaign in the 21st Century
July 20–25, 2008
San Diego

Details & Registration: www.cato-university.org

A limited number of Bastiat Scholarship are available for Cato University, the Cato Institute’s premier educational event of the year. This annual program brings together outstanding faculty and participants from across the country and, often, from around the globe – business and professional people, retirees, small business owners, high school and college students, employees of large and small firms and many others who share a commitment to liberty and learning.

However, since the program was sold out in 2007, I want to be sure you have an opportunity to register as early and conveniently as possible. You can also let friends and family know about this opportunity—it would be great to have them join us.
The setting: We will be meeting at the Rancho Bernardo Inn— www.ranchobernardoinn.com—just a few miles north of San Diego. Its world-class facilities and access to the best of San Diego all contribute to Cato University being a one-of-a-kind learning experience combined with a magnificent vacation.

Scholarships: Scholarship application and details at www.cato.org/cato-university/scholarship.html.

The program: Never attended Cato University before? 2008 is the perfect opportunity to join the Cato University community and become a graduate. At Cato University you'll spend high-quality time with some of the best speakers (and minds!) in the country, in the company of fellow participants who share your love of freedom.

This year's program—Freedom's Campaign in the 21st Century— will energetically take you through the prospects for and threats to freedom which are occurring in the United States and in key locations around the globe. The faculty includes leading U.S. and international experts, including:

* Rejoice Ngwenya, a brave leader of the opposition to the brutal regime of President Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe.
* Professor Robert McDonald, an acclaimed history professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
* Dr. Andrei Illarionov, a senior fellow at Cato's Center for Global Liberty and Prosperity, who served as chief economic adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
* Dr. Karen Horn, head of the Berlin office of Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln, a private economic research institute in Germany, and former economics editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, one of Europe's leading daily newspapers.

A full list of all faculty members and details about the program are located at www.cato-university.org.
