The Dietrich von Hildebrand Legacy Project (www.hildebrandlegacy.org) is seeking a part-time administrative assistant to provide crucial clerical support (12-15 hours per week) at the offices of the Legacy Project in Alexandria, Virginia.
Employment begins immediately.
Principal Purpose of Job:
Administrative responsibilities: include providing regular secretarial assistance to the director, primarily by coordinating written and phone correspondence, maintaining the office file system, depositing contributions, sending thank you letters, paying invoices, preparing regular mailings, etc.
Research responsibilities: include reviewing and editing manuscripts, proofreading, preparing citations, indices, bibliographies, and, occasionally, drafting materials for incorporation into articles, correspondence, etc.
Qualifications and Capabilities:
1. Must have experience as an administrative assistant, secretary, office manager or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
2. Must have a degree from an accredited college or university. A degree in the humanities is preferred, though not necessary.
3. Experience and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications is essential. Knowledge of QuickBooks, or other accounting software, is preferable. Must be capable of rapidly learning how to use new software programs.
4. Must have excellent people and communication skills; both written and verbal.
5. Must have strong organizational, time management, and administrative skills, be self-directed, and a team player.
6. Must have the ability to handle and track multiple projects and adhere to deadlines.
7. Must be able to type 60 words per minute with accuracy in a setting with many interruptions and to transcribe from handwritten drafts or verbal dictation.
8. Must have a sound knowledge of and ability in business correspondence and an ability to proofread for grammar, spelling and punctuation with a high degree of accuracy.
9. Must be able to do basic accounting and mathematical computations with a high degree of accuracy, for example to calculate travel expenses or assist with budget calculations.
10. Must be able to work in a busy home-office environment in which several other businesses are simultaneously operating.
11. Must be able to sit at a workstation for an extended period of time.
Compensation:
