Latin America roundtable tomorrow...
Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 12, America's Future Foundation will host the Roundtable "Latin America: Which Way Now?" It was only a few years ago that the rise of Hugo Chavez seemed to signal a new Latin wave of hard leftism. Yet today paints a more complicated picture, with center-right victories in Mexico and Colombia and center-left politicians gaining traction against radicals across the region -- even as Chavez consolidates his rule. Please join us as we discuss the implications of these trends for both Latin America and the United States. Panelists will include Marc Wachtenheim of the Pan American Development Foundation, independent Brazilian journalist Olavo de Carvalho, and Reason assistant editor David Weigel. Ivan Osorio, editorial director at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, will moderate the discussion.

If you'd like to attend, you must RSVP to kathleen@americasfuture.org. The event will be held at The Fund for American Studies, 1706 New Hampshire Ave, NW, Washington, DC, near Dupont Circle. Drinks at 6:30, with discussion at 7:00 pm. Roundtables are free for members, $5 for non-members. So join today!

AFF Underground theater outing next week...
To kick off the fall, AFF Underground is attending the Shakespeare Theater’s production of Henrik Ibsen’s "An Enemy of the People" -- the great play on censorship and the social implications of promoting the truth. Click here for more info on the play. We have a group of 10 tickets for Thursday, September 21st. It starts at 8:00pm and we’ll go out for drinks afterwards. Tickets are $35 for members and $45 for nonmembers. RSVP to Joanna Robinson at joanna@americasfuture.com.

Enemy of the People and atheism rebuffed...
Speaking of Ibsen, in our online magazine this week, James Crabtree review the play "An Enemy of the People," and points out the story's parallels to Al Gore's environmental crusade. Meanwhile, Michael Brendan Dougherty faithfully reviews Sam Harris' new book, Letter to a Christian Nation.

The beautiful grounds overlook the water, with plenty of lawn for frisbee or other games. Come spend the afternoon with over a hundred of your fellow conservative and libertarian leaders.

The event will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Tickets are only $25 for members, $40 for non-members. You can also join or renew for a $55 special membership rate that includes a Crabfest ticket, or reserve a whole table of 8 for your office or organization for only $300.
