IN THIS ISSUE: NEOPROHIBITION ROUNDTABLE THIS WEDNESDAY | CHRISTMAS MUSIC THIS SUNDAY | LIBERTARIANS AND APOCALYPTO | JOBS AND MORE

Neoprohibition roundtable this week...
D.C. bans smoking, Chicago outlaws foie gras, and New York is thinking of forbidding transfats. Is this the return of prohibition? What ever happened to consumer freedom? This is what we'll be discussing at AFF's next roundtable on Wednesday, December 13. Joining us to discuss these issues are Justin Wilson of the Center for Consumer Freedom, Amy Phillips of the Institute for Humane Studies, Phillip Ugelow of the Corporate Executive Board, and Blake Dvorak of The Washington Times. David White will moderate.

The event will take place at the Fund for American Studies, 1706 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, near Dupont Circle. Drinks at 6:30; Roundtable begins at 7:00. Roundtables are free for members, $5 for non-members. So join today! Please RSVP to Kathleen O'Hearn at kathleen@americasfuture.org.

Happy holidays with AFF Underground...
Join AFF Underground for a free event at the National Gallery of Art, this Sunday, December 17th at 6:30pm. Nordic Voices: Christmas music from Norway and other countries, presented in cooperation with the Royal Norwegian Embassy and in connection with the Norwegian Christmas Festival. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the West Building, West Garden Court.

RSVP to Joanna Robinson at joanna@americasfuture.org. We'll meet there a little after 6 and maybe grab gingerbread lattes afterwards!

"Purity-test" libertarians and Apocalypto...
In our online magazine this week, James Markels bemoans "purity-test libertarians" who stand in the way of libertarians ever having any real influence over politics. Meanwhile, Louis Wittig reviews the new Mel Gibson epic, Apocalypto.
