AFF Chicago Roundtable: The State of the Republican Brand

Tell your friends in Chicago that on January 16th in Chicago, AFF will host will host a roundtable on the "State of the Republican Brand." With so much dissatisfaction within the conservative and libertarian base, what is the state of the Republican "brand?"  How should conservatives and libertarians re-shape the brand in 2008 and beyond? In some sense, President Bush envisioned an "ownership society" as a uniting theme for conservatives and libertarians. To what extend did this succeed or fail? Does polling data reflect a decline of voter support for smaller government, in general? Are the Republican presidential candidates reflecting voter preferences, or vice versa? Is the "leave us alone" coalitionstill intact?

Joining us in the discussion will be Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform and Ramesh Ponnuru of the National Review. Moderating this discussion will be Blake Dvorak of Real Clear Politics. Stay tuned for more panelist.

This event will take place at the Union League Club located at 65 West Jackson Boulevard in Chicago, IL 60604. There will be a reception at 6:00 and the panel will begin at 7:00 pm. If you would like to RSVP for this event please email kathleen@americasfuture.org.

AFF January Roundtable: "Don't Be Evil": Privacy in the Age of Google
In less than a decade, Google has grown from a Ph.D. research project to be the indispensable tool of the information economy. With the objective of making all information instantly and universally accessible, Google now controls the principal index to the internet and the email traffic of millions, while adding new features such as maps replete with street-level photos cataloging the non-virtual world. As governments around the world seek to harness this information for good or evil, please join us on January 16th to discuss what we stand to gain and lose from this relentless indexing of information.

The event will take place at the Fund for American Studies, 1706 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, near Dupont Circle. Drinks at 6:30; Roundtable begins at 7:00. Roundtables are free for members, $5 for non-members. So join today! Please RSVP to Cindy Cerquitella at cindy@americasfuture.org.
