Where were you circa 1999? I was hugely into ska, which, for all of 35 seconds held a toe-hold in the zeitgeist. Of course, one of my favorite bands was The Pietasters, who, I pleasantly found out earlier this week, still exist. (They recently played a show with the Mighty Mighty Bosstones who also, it seems, still exist!) The mere mention of the name brought me briefly back to a world of wearing band patches on my pants, “skanking,” and lamenting bands that had “sold out.” Ah, high school!
