I know H Street is a bit of a trek for a Tuesday night, but High Places is totally worth it. The Brooklyn-based duo has been getting all sorts of rave reviews lately for its jangly, eccentrically-instrumental pop (check it out for yourself here), and they haven’t even put out a full-length album yet. Check them out now, and you can later impress all your hipster friends by saying you saw them when (Oh, wait, has 30 seconds passed? Sorry, your hipster friends have just moved on. Nonetheless …). High Places aren’t even the headlining act— that would be No Age, LA-based punk/rock band that’s part of the Sub Pop stable. I don’t personally know much about No Age, but they have Peter Suderman’s approval (how much do you trust your Doublethink Online editor, dears?), and I’ve heard from myriad sources that they put on wild, amazing, kids-bouncing-off-walls-crazy live shows. For tickets ($12), visit http://www.rockandrollhoteldc.com. Doors open at 8; first opener Abe Vigoda takes the stage at 8:30.
