The world is twittering out of control. Social networks, seemingly, are taking over. And yet—the happy hour remains a staple of our lives. The preeminence of that sacred institution remains—even when the occasion is to celebrate a Web 2.0 service called “Help a Reporter Out”.
Peter Shankman is a flack who likes helping journalists connect to [...]
Every once in a while an article comes out ranking past presidents–great, near-great, complete failure, etc. Who says? And on what are they basing those ratings? Heritage is going gangbusters to fix the ratings to focus on specific categories-character, competence, foreign policy, among others-to take the focus away from high-rating big government leaders and give credit [...]
If judged by the sheer amount of people in attendance, the First Friday 1-year anniversary happy hour yesterday was a resounding success – by 6 p.m., it was almost impossible to move through the super-packed front bar of Lounge 201, and by 7 the First Friday crowd was, by necessity, spilling over into other parts of the bar. If last year’s AFF Prom theme was “Under the Sea” (or rather, under the torrential downpour), this year’s theme was certainly “Underneath the Stars”.
The gorgeous weather, a sort of karmic correction for last year’s monsoon, served the event well - the party stayed outside for the most part, creating an epic evening where the divide [...]
